Awesome day. Stopped for gas on the way home. During the day they had jacked up the price 9 cents a litre (40 cents a gallon). Then when I got home, I stepped out of the car to open the front gate, into a pile of dog shit. I have hundreds of yards of ditches, and somebody has thier dog shit right in front of my gate.
I'm trying to be more positive this week. Is it showing?

Weird weather day today. It was -2C and sunny when I left the house. At lunch, it was +7C and snowing. I heard there was even a bit of hail. Crazy after all the nice spring-like days we've had.

I hurt my back a little bit a few days ago, so I'm taking it easy this weekend. Spent much of today on the front deck in shorts and a t-shirt. Read all my email and caught up reading news while I charged up the battery on the lawn mower. Then I mowed the lawn for the first time this year (it was a few weeks overdue), Followed by reading a book for a couple more hours. Then we went out to Bistro 161 for dinner.
Tomorrow, I think I'll try to do less.

Monday night ride as good. New clipless pedals gave me lots of new opportunities to fall down in new and exciting places :-) Luckily in most cases either my hydration pack or the size od my ass cushioned the falls.

Wow! That was an exciting gold medal game for men's hockey! I'd like to thank the US team (in particular Ryan Miller) for giving every Canadian watching a collective heart attack by tying it up with 24 freaking seconds on the clock. And Sidney Crosby, who whiffed on the puck so many times during the games for burying the puck in overtime.

Another long crappy work week (hmm. Is that redundant?). But at least watching some of the Olympics has been good. The Canadian women's hockey team won the gold again, the men's hockey team gave everybody a good scare last night when the Slovakian team woke up in the last 10 minutes of the game and damn near tied it up. And the 4-man bobsled races were chock full of teams blowing one particular corner, rolling their sleds, and finishing the course on their heads.
The big story will be the outcome of the gold medal hockey game sunday. Win or lose, downtown Vancouver will be a gong show.

Tonight was one of those rides you just have to laugh about. It was just one thing after another, right from the start. Nelson forgot the batteries for his lights, so I gave him my handlebar lights. The cord for them is a bit short for putting the battery in your pack though, so he was pretty tightly tethered. Then I forgot to turn on the GPS until we got to the bottom of Bottom Feeder (I think that is where we were ;-). next up, Nelson got a flat, or at least his tire seemed to go flat. After he changed the tube though, we could not find a leak in the old tube. Charging on, we found that without his headlamp, Nelson was getting a bit mixed up and heading down unusual paths. Then George's head lamp died. And he doesn't have another. So I dug my little LED flashlight out of my hydration pack (George's comment: man you carry a lot of stuff in there!). He wedged the flashlight into the webbing of his helmet strap and we all decided to ride out at that point. On the way out I was chuckling because I realized the three of use were all using my lights only. And the finishing touch, when I got home I discovered that the soles of my shoes had come apart during the ride. You really do have to laugh. Still better than being at work though!

Another sunny gorgeous day here on the west coast. Spent quite a bit of time putting tools away in the tool chest I got for Christmas. I think I have most of it sorted out now. And work only called once. Whee!

The cherry blossoms have broken out here in a big way. Pretty early, even for here. But then again it's been a super mild winter. It's toally spring like here.

Had another good ride tonight, although one of the guys had a mechanical problem that meant our pack had to split up. It rained a bit while we were riding, but the heavy rain held off until I got home. yay!
