Almost recovered from the race sunday. My Achillies is still a little tight, but that should be gone by tomorrow.

Ran the TC10k race today. Actually quite happy with a result of 1:05, running the whole time (only slowed to a walk for two of the water stations). I didn't really train for it (although I have been doing some trail running over the last month or so.) Gonna be a little sore tomorrow though. In time after I sort of stopped running much I had forgotten that I need to wear gel heal lifts to keep my achillies from hurting after running (particularly on pavement). Probably be limping a bit tomorrow.

Went for a bike ride yesterday for the first time since my back started hurting at the beginning of March. Turns out biking doesn't make it hurt (neither does running), so I probably should not have stopped. Looks like the only thing that makes it hurt is sitting down. I should do less of that.
Going for a longer ride today.

Took it easy today. Read part of a book and had coffee in the morning. Went for a run and mowed the lawn in the afternoon. Come to think of it, that's about it. Hmmm. I really did take it easy. Too bad I didn't have time for a nap! :-)

Hi all,
Back from our little vacation to Tofino. Had a good time. Weather was great, did a lot of walking on the beach, running on the beach, and some geocaching. Only thing we had wanted to to that we didn't get to was kite flying. Not a lick of wind while we were up there (until we were checking out). Oh well. It was nice and relaxing.

I'm on vacation for the next two weeks as of now. Hoping to relax my back and get over these back issues so I can start riding my bike again. Not spending 2 hours a day in the car and 8 hours in the torture device that is my office chair will be a good start.

We've had some nasty weather here the last few days. Thursday night/Friday we had a wicked storm. Our power was out when I woke up (and had been out for hours at that point). Since we have chicks under a heatlamp, we needed power, so I fired up the generator and left it running for most of the day. In my books, as long as I can make espresso and have a hot shower, everything is fine. Power didn't come back on until almost midnight.
Saturday was a bit better. The wind was gone anyway. I headed out to Home Depot to buy some hinges and a bundle of shingles for or my next project.
Today I started building a little hut for the generator. It's going to look rather like a doghouse when it is done. I've been meaning to do it for a couple years. I'm building it so I can run the generator in the rain without having to have one end of it pulled into the garage to keep dry. It's not safe to run it that way, and it's noisy inside the house.
I'm using the leftover scrap lumber from when the roof was done last summer. The crates from the metal roofing were all 2x4. Not pretty, but fine for framing. And there were several sections of OSB board from the roof that were replaced, so I'm pulling out nails and using it to build.

Weather today was a complete turn around from yesterday's weirdness.
The frogs in our front pond are going wild. At night when you open the front door, the sound is amazing.
Reeeeeepppp!
