Weather continues to be crappy. The lawn however is growing like nuts. Next time it dries out it's not gonna be a pretty mow...

Spent the afternoon cleaning out the gutters with the shop vac. They kept overflowing, so I cleaned them out. Utterly disgusting. If you are squeamish, you may want to stop reading here.
It used to be that it was just gravel from the shingles that was in there. With the new metal roof I figured I would not need to clean them as much. Wrong. There was close to an inch of ... stuff ... in the bottom. It was two layers, the bottom layer was like lumpy brown gravy, and the top was like lime Jello. If I were to describe it like a perfume, it would be called Eau de My Fucking God. It reeked like you would not believe. Sadly, I recognized the smell. It smelled like greywater. When I was a kid I helped my grandfather dig up his greywater field behind their house. When I opened up the tank, that was the smell. And with the new roof sticking a little further into the gutter than the old, I can't use my old gutter cleaning attachment (it won't fit into the gap now). So I can't clean them from the ground. Have to get up close and personal. Today that was a real liability. I really would have rather not looked at or smelled what I was working on...
Yuck.

The May long weekend is traditionally kinda awful weather-wise here. Today there was a 30% chance of rain, and it rained about 30% of the time. On about a 30 minute cycle it would be sunny and then downpour then go back to sunny. Crazyness.
I managed to get the lawn cut before the first downpour. Spent the rest of the day washing windows inside and out. My arms are sore now :-) but I have nice sparkly windows!

Well, that was a long week! But now the long weekend is here, and I have the whole thing to myself. Of course the May long weekend traditionally has crappy weather. This year the forecast is for mixed sun and cloud with a slight chance of rain. Of course today, I've tried to go out to mow the lawn twice and there has been a downpour within 2 minutes...

Another busy day. Dug out the sprinkler system controllers. Freaking things are put together in a way that would make Rube Goldberg scratch his head in wonder.

Spent the day around the house mowing, trimming and cleaning. Very domestic. Place almost looks presentable...

Took off work early today and went for a ride in the sun. First really warm day this year. Tried a newly built run. Walked up the walkup trail that runs near the new trail, and then later down the real trail. The walk up was brutal. The sign at the bottom said 6 minutes to the top, but it turned out to be a sick joke). Ride down was lots of fun. It's fast, has bermed corners, and has lots of jumps on it. Just as I like it :-)

Weather is nice, so I'm ducking out of work early tomorrow to head out for a ride.

Had a good ride Monday night. It was rainy in the morning, so the trails were still pretty mucky. Earned a few new bruises while I was at it :-)
Today, the weather turned awesome. Sunny and nice, and supposed to be that way right through the weekend. Excellent.
Tonight I did some percussive maintenance on the lawn mower. Sometimes, the Deere just needs to be hammered into submission...

Hey folks!
I've been busy since I went back to work, post vacation. Working a bit of over time, riding my bike a few times. And the weather is good, so lots of work around the homestead. This weekend it was lawn/ditch/fence-line mowing, pond liner repairs, getting the little shed for the generator outside and reassembled, and getting errands and stuff done. New rear speakers for the car to replace the blown ones, and taking my mom out Lee Valley to get a mother's day gift, then up to Bear Mountain for lunch. Whooo! Busy times!

I've started putting the intros from the joke mailings onto the site. Like it?
